Meet Aleph Zero

Public blockchain with private smart contracts

Aleph Zero is a peer-reviewed DAG-based platform that’s scalable, private, and developer-friendly.

Aleph Zero is a Proof-of-Stake public blockchain with private smart contracts built from the first principles. We combined an original consensus protocol with a privacy framework based on ZK-SNARKs and sMPC with the Substrate stack.

Core Features

That's
why it works

SCALABILITY

Aleph Zero’s peer-reviewed consensus protocol (AlephBFT) achieved 89,600 tx/s with a 416 ms confirmation time in a decentralized test setting of 112 AWS nodes spread across five continents.

DECENTRALIZATION

Aleph Zero is the first decentralized Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG)-based platform with a large, rotating, random committee.

PRIVATE SMART CONTRACTS

Liminal, Aleph Zero’s original privacy framework, is based not only on ZK-SNARKs but also takes advantage of Secure Multi-Party Computation concepts.

NEAR-FREE TRANSFER TRANSACTIONS

Simple value transfers are, and always will be, extremely cheap.

DEX & DECENTRALIZED DARK POOL

Common is the first product we’re building on top of Aleph Zero. It’s a Decentralized Exchange and a Decentralized Dark Pool.

HUB AND SPOKE OPERATIONS MODEL

Easily sync your application to the Aleph Zero’s ledger.

FILE STORAGE

Application Programming Interface (API) hooks that allow for a seamless integration into InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) as well as proprietary data solutions.

Aleph Zero Ecosystem

Building a multichain world

We trust that enterprises and SMBs can greatly benefit from a public, peer-reviewed platform with private transactions. Aleph Zero will also be capable of synchronizing with other blockchains and running smart contracts—and its privacy framework can be used on all the major chains. Moreover, the team is working on a truly trustless universal wallet called Common

  • AlephBFT

What they say about us

//

Sean Noga and Tom Sweeney, JUN Capital

“Simply put, $AZERO aims to solve the Miner Extractable Value (MEV) problem on the Ethereum Network with on-chain speeds of up to 100,000 transactions per second using novel cryptographic techniques. Moreover, Aleph Zero will offer both public and private smart contracts through their integration with Substrate. The team has also published relevant research on secure multi-party computation (MPC) which allows the network to support dark pool liquidity functionality on DeFi dApps."

//

Bilal Junaid, founding partner of Genblock Capital

“Thus far, the project’s execution can be seen as prepense and their entry to the market is quickly becoming highly anticipated as the community catches on to the true depth of Aleph Zero’s value proposition. With scalability currently being a key issue in blockchain, the protocol boasts up to an incredible 100,000 TPS in the test environment of 112 nodes spread across five continents, making it one of the most compelling solutions available for businesses requiring high transactional throughput."

//

Vilma Matilla, co-founder of Node Kapital

“Node Kapital considers having private smart contracts a key step towards enterprise blockchain adoption. We see Aleph Zero’s protocol as a masterpiece in privacy-preserving distributed ledger technology development”

//

Michael Guzik, Aleph Zero Advisor

“I am very excited to join the advisory board of Aleph Zero since its overall architecture provides a very compelling solution to the enterprise world. I am glad to advise on the strategic direction of the Foundation and bring Aleph Zero into the enterprise world.”

Phase 3

Bread and butter of every blockchain - allowing users to transfer their tokens (in this case, AZERO) between accounts.
Polkadot.js is the most popular explorer and wallet in the Polkadot ecosystem. Besides allowing for transfers and exploring blocks, it has extensive developer-centric capabilities.
Swapping the default Substrate consensus, GRANDPA, for more performant and secure AlephBFT.
Adding the technical possibility of changing the committee running the consensus.

Phase 4

Preparing for future chain upgrades to be performed on the fly, i.e., without the chain downtime.
Aleph Zero validators will be randomly reassigned for each session, based on the sum of their own stake and funds staked on them by the community.
Benchmarks include testing just the consensus protocol, the whole chain with token transactions, smart contracts, all using various committee sizes from 10 to a few hundred.
Adding WASM-based smart contracts to Aleph Zero blockchain, together with deployment tutorials.
Project Roadmap

The Aleph Zero Roadmap

The Aleph Zero Roadmap is a dedicated space to present the growth of the project. By clicking on each of the features, you can learn more about them.
Why we are building Aleph Zero

To solve the unsolvable

  • Privacy Challenge

    Business models based on selling user data are the foundation of Web 2.0. While there are some obvious benefits—especially conveniece—that the users receive in return, we believe this approach needs to evolve. Your digital identity should be under your control.

    Aleph Zero privacy framework is built using ZK-SNARKs and sMPC.

  • Security Challenge

    Distributed Ledger Technologies are considered immune to most attacks thanks to their decentralization. But in many cases, they don’t provide theoretical security guarantees which makes them less practical to use long-term.

    Aleph Zero provides both practical, and maximum theoretical security guarantees (aBFT).

  • Scalability Challenge

    As known research points, there is a trade-off between security and speed in every blockchain. When operating on a high scale, to maintain security, most blockchains are bound to low transaction speeds.

    Aleph Zero is both secure and fast when operating on a large scale.

  • Sustainability Challenge

    Blockchains that are based on Proof-of-Work protocols are highly inefficient at scale. Mining requires high computing power which contributes to high energy consumption needed to run the network

    Aleph Zero is mining-free.

  • Speed Challenge

    The point of Proof-of-Work protocol is to slow the network down. Many blockchains, in order to improve speed and scalability, are sacrificing their decentralization and security. You either send your assets securely, or deal with various compromises.

    Aleph Zero performs transactions in seconds while ensuring their safety.
