Matthew Niemerg, Ph.D.
—Co-Founder, Business & Operations
Earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics in Applied Algebraic Geometry from Colorado State University in 2014. Simons-Berkeley Fellow and also an IBM Center of Excellence Fellow in High Performance Computing at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Actively involved in the DLT space since 2014 and has provided consultation to numerous projects related to security and consensus models, cryptographic schemes, as well as applying sound business and technological models for projects in the DLT space.

Studied Computer Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology, where he also served as a board member of the Chalmers Computer Club. Studied Network Engineering at Mälardalen University with focus on tier 1 networks. Involved in the blockchain space since 2014. Developed a variety of novel ideas connected to the DLT industry. Worked as a computer and network engineer with Internet Service Providers and hosting companies for over 10 years.
Adam Gagol, Ph.D.
Received Ph.D. in mathematics for his work on applications of probabilistic method in combinatorics. During his doctoral studies, he was a beneficent of a SET project for interdisciplinary research and SSDNM fellowship for mathematical sciences. While his main domain is combinatorics, he is open to new technologies and has 4 years of experience in data science and machine learning applied in neuroscience research. He has been working as a freelance consultant in various areas spanning from mathematical modeling to deep learning.

Tech marketer with almost 10 years of experience. Involved in various Public Relations and content creation projects for ING, Samsung, Sony, Olympus, and Nikon. Gained experience at the Corporate Communications department of ABB in Zurich. Worked as an inbound marketer for Brand24 and Codewise, the 2nd-fastest growing company in Europe according to the Financial Times. Co-founded Aleph after working as VP of Marketing at In'saneLab, a Polish-American software development agency.
Michał Swietek, Ph.D.
Received Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics for his work in the field of Infinite-Dimensional Geometry of Banach spaces and a Bachelor of Computer Science—both at Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Has been focused on applying his skills in new technologies such as Deep Reinforcement Learning, Machine Learning, and Neuroscience. Now, he is fully focused on Distributed Ledger Technologies that combine Mathematics and Computer Science in a new way. Fascinated by the vast possibilities and potential impact of this emerging field.

Studied at Aalborg University in Denmark, with a masters focused on Design Thinking and Best Practice Design within the Internet of Things. Actively involved in the DLT domain since early 2017, priorly ran a usability lab for the University of Copenhagen and has hands-on experience with IT administration and Project Management for large Danish academical institutions.

A Swiss national with 10+ years spent working with firms such as Credit Suisse, LeasePlan, Steiner AG, and Calltrade among others. He is an experienced C-level executive with finance and economics expertise, fintech and DLT included.
Marketing expert based in Poland, with over 15 years experience in design and nearly 10 years experience in creative direction and team management roles. During his career as Designer, Art Director and Creative Director overseen integrated marketing campaigns across emerging channels, print, digital and social as well as leading rebranding and design efforts for large-scale, corporate identity systems. Most recently Director of Creative Marketing at Codewise – provider of AI-powered online ad measurement and management solutions for digital marketers.
Marketer with over 6 years of experience in social media and content marketing. Graduated from AGH University of Science and Technology. Has been involved in projects varying from the automotive industry to branding, recruitment, and tech. Helped to build one of the biggest automotive communities and YouTube channels in Poland. Was a part of Admind, a branding agency working closely with ABB, as well as worked as a Content Product Manager in Codewise, and as a Marketing Manager in one of the fastest growing tech recruitment companies in Norway.

Worked as a head of production and manager at event agencies in Warsaw. Collaborated with such brands as McDonald’s, Jacobs, and Google. Involved in several NGO projects. Handles even the most difficult situations with calmness. A sense of humor, smile, and self-control are the most important things in her work. Graduated from University of Silesia, Film Production Organization.

Damian Straszak, Ph.D.
Obtained a double major Master's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at University of Wrocław. Recently defended his Ph.D. thesis in Computer Science at École Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). The main topics in his research are discrete optimization problems and convex programming. For more than 15 years Damian has been active in the competitive programming scene. In 2013 and 2014 advanced to ACM ICPC World Finals -- the World's most prestigious programming competition -- first as a participant and then as a team coach. Involved in organization of several large programming competitions, including the Polish Collegiate Championship in Team Programming (AMPPZ) and Helvetic Coding Contest (HC2).
—Ph.D. Candidate, Senior Developer
Graduated from Jagiellonian University in Kraków with M.Sc. in Computer Science. Currently, a Ph.D. candidate in Theoretical Computer Science in the field of computational logic and asymptotic properties of lambda calculus. Worked both as a software engineer and researcher at several big IT companies like IBM, ABB, and SolarWinds. Interest in Distributed Ledger Technologies emerged as a result of recent research in the field of the distributed consensus and thanks to the teaching of the Distributed Systems class at the Jagiellonian University.
Achieved a M.Sc. in mathematics and a B.Sc. in computer science at Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Fascinated by artificial intelligence, machine learning, and formal reasoning. Jumped at a chance to work with modern and innovative technologies at Aleph to hone his mathematics and programming skills.

Graduated from Jagiellonian University in Krakow with M.Sc. in Theoretical Mathematics. A Ph.D. candidate in Machine Learning. Holds a heavy interest in technology-based drug design. Thinks that the emerging technologies—especially Machine Learning and Distributed Ledger Technologies—will influence the society the most in the near future.
Maciej Gawron, Ph.D.
Pure Mathematics Ph.D. (2016) and Computer Science M.Sc. (2014) obtained at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Received numerous mathematical awards and honours, such us the Paul Bruckman Prize for the best lecture at the 17th Fibonacci Conference and the first prize in International Mathematics Competition in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. In 2018 achieved 1st place at the Benelux Algorithm Programming Contest. Two-times finalist of the Algorithmic Engagements (2015, 2016). Top 5% in TopCoder and top 1% in CodeForces rankings. Joined Aleph after working at Booking.com.
Max has 8 years of financial planning and analysis experience at various Tech companies in Silicon Valley. He has managed $800M+ in revenue and 500+ HC budgets while working closely with all levels of the organization. He is an extroverted Finance professional that is passionate about Tech and it’s positive impact to people’s lives. At Aleph, he is our in-house crypto market expert bringing into context the high-level market trends but also managing the day to day financial operations and investor relations.
