Aleph Zero Integrates Across Protocol: Making Bridging Lightning-fast, and More Affordable and Secure
Across Protocol is Ethereum’s fastest cross-chain bridging solution—and its integration into Aleph Zero EVM is primed to unleash fresh liquidity into our ecosystem, along with empowering users with rapid, affordable, and secure interchain transactions. Let’s dive into what this game-changing partnership brings to Aleph Zero.
What is Across—and what benefits does it bring to Aleph Zero?
Across is an industry-leading bridging solution that is now live on Aleph Zero EVM (Arbitrum-Orbit). Aleph Zero EVM is the first Arbitrum-Orbit chain supported by Across—and this is what it means for our network and users:
- Broad multichain access: Users can bridge their assets to and from Aleph Zero across 14 other EVM-compatible chains, simplifying multichain asset movement;
- Unmatched transfer speeds: Aleph Zero users now benefit from Across’s lightning-fast bridging (2-second transfers) and an expansion in flexibility and speed across our entire ecosystem;
- Affordable and cost-efficient: Across minimizes transaction costs—keeping cross-chain operations accessible and economical for all users within Aleph Zero’s network.
Arbitrum Fast Withdrawals and how they radically enhance UX
Across leverages Arbitrum’s Fast Withdrawals feature, which is an enhanced withdrawal mechanism designed to significantly reduce the time it takes to move funds from Arbitrum back to the Ethereum network. Typically, Ethereum Layer 2 rollups like Arbitrum One use a fraud-proof model, where users withdrawing funds need to wait a longer “challenge period” (typically around 7-15 days) for security purposes. Fast Withdrawals bypass this by using liquidity providers (LPs) who front the withdrawal amount on the main chain. This brings down withdrawal times from 7-15 days to just 15 minutes.
Essentially, Arbitrum Fast Withdrawals enable:
- The setting up of a withdrawal frequency of any time period (up to 15 minutes);
- User withdrawal confirmations on the parent chain at frequencies up to ~15 minutes;
- Cross-chain dApps to read the finalized state at the same rate as the Fast Withdrawal frequency.
With Across, in utilizing Arbitrum Fast Withdrawals to streamline Orbit chain transactions, users can directly bridge assets between Orbit chains in seconds—without needing to go through the Arbitrum parent chain. This direct route ensures efficiency and affordability for every transfer within the Arbitrum ecosystem—and makes the UX—especially for users needing quick access to funds across different layers (without compromising the underlying security model).
It is also critical to highlight that Aleph Zero EVM is one of the first chains to attain support for Arbitrum Fast Withdrawals.
Aleph Zero supports ERC-7683 for crosschain Intents
By supporting the ERC-7683 standard, co-developed by Across and Uniswap Labs, Aleph Zero aims to radically simplify EVM interoperability. This universal standard for crosschain Intents allows for easier crosschain dApp development and a streamlined user experience across EVM chains. ERC-7683 is transforming the future of crosschain dApps, and is making it easy and simple for developers and users to maximize the potential of decentralized ecosystems. Aleph Zero’s support of ERC-7683 signals our commitment to innovation in interchain solutions, making seamless functionality a top priority.
