AI Summary

Great news from the Aleph Zero ecosystem.

After three years of focused building, the Panjea team have started adding their first users to the platform. All standard (video, audio, text and image) media types are supported on the MVP version of the platform and current feedback from the initial test audience is extremely positive according to the developers.

Panjea is a creator-first platform, designed to resolve many of the issues that have plagued current web2 social media models. Amongst the most prominent of these are the algorithmic bias, and failure to protect community value.

Creators are Curators and Control Content Discovery – Not Algorithms

Panjea has a user-created structure. Users, not algorithms, determine the links between content, and therefore the navigation. This is in contrast to the data-scraping AI-driven feeds of the current internet, which give users a selective view of the web. Additionally, contributors can directly access the value of their work (building the community and body of content) through the tokenisation and rewards model.

We approached Kieron Bain, the commercial lead of Panjea, for a comment about this launch:

This represents a big moment for the team – Luke, Simon, Lee and myself who have put so much of our lives and hearts into building Panjea. The road has been much harder than we expected with so many challenges. To get to this launch represents a lot of our lives and we hope that people like what we’ve created and can share in our vision of a freer, more equitable internet that is based on the original ideas of shared information and empowering mankind.

Panjea was one of the first projects to start building on Aleph Zero and became a full member of the ecosystem in October 2023, receiving an EFP grant to support the technology build. Since then, team members have been active in the Aleph Zero community and have become well-known amongst the ecosystem projects, most notably, AZERO.ID, with whom they arranged a partnership in the first quarter of 2024.

A New Internet of Content—Made for Creators

This alpha version of the platform allows users to experience the token economy on the Testnet to experience the rewards system that will be launched on the Mainnet later on.

The available content types are:

  • Video Files (up to 16MB with plans to extend storage)
  • Text
  • Audio
  • Images

The full content linking feature, which some have said is not unlike the subreddit system, is enabled – allowing users to define the relevancy between pieces of content. Files are currently hosted by Panjea – with plans in the future to offer a range of different hosting options.  Interested parties should also note that Panjea is strictly available on desktop and laptop and there is no support currently for smartphones (which will come later).

Panjea’s commercial lead, Kieron Bain additionally had this to say about their continued commitment to Aleph Zero:

One consistent message that we’ve heard during the last 3 years of development is that blockchain and web3 spaces are beset with issues around identity, privacy, and security. One of the biggest considerations we had to make when choosing our parent blockchain was how to ensure the safety of our users. Aleph Zero’s vision in this space perfectly aligns with the needs of our future community.

Magic Monday: Bringing Content, Connection, and Creativity to Life on Panjea

Magic Monday – the 12th of August 2024 – was the day that the alpha version of the platform was unveiled to the world. This allowed supporters of the project and Aleph Zero to get onboard and see the work and dedication that’s been poured into this platform for themselves.

Kieron Bain went on to further add:

One of the commitments we’re making to our test audience is that all acceptable content uploaded to the testnet will be ported over to the mainnet—which means that those who have contributed content during the early stages of the project can start receiving rewards for their views on that content from day one. This is limited and only available to testnet audiences.

We are now in Panjea’s promotional Magic Monday week and anyone who is interested in the platform can sign up using this link to get onto the Testnet.
